Dedicated to teaching, research and technology transfer for over a century, Escola Superior Agrária de Santarém is an inescapable reference in the Portuguese higher education system.

Mixing innovation and tradition, a deep and ancestral knowledge of several generations, the best oenological practices and a unique passion for teaching.

The vineyard located in Quinta do Quinto, one of the three properties of ESAS, has an area of approximately 10 hectares, where are implanted, tinta Roriz, Syrah and Alicante Bouschet red varieties, and the white varieties Fernão Pires, Arinto, Sauvignon blanc and Chardonnay.

It also has a fully equipped wine cellar, barrels room and physical-chemical and microbiological analysis laboratories.

With the brand “Quinta do Quinto” produces quality wines, which contribute to the promotion and preservation of Portuguese native breeds in danger of extinction of which it is a reference breeder.

At the ESAS Maria Vicente is our wineteacher for the WSET courses. At ESAS Maria Vicente is our wine teacher for wset courses. Former student and today partner in the preparation of ESAS wines,she is a proud promoter of the Escola Superior Agrária de Santarem. Maria is also a professional wine taster for international jury’s and graduated for Level 3 Award in Wine at WSET. So in fact she brings these two worlds together!

Like on our wineschool at Quinta de Plansel there is no better place to learn about wine than in an environment surrounded by wine; an environment that breathes wine. The same goes for Escola Superior Agrária de Santarém. Also here we combine theory and practice by visiting the vineyard and the wine cellars that make the WSET courses at ESAS an exceptional experience.
